We have discovered that that quality of E's sleep is directly correlated to how well we've done his bedtime routine and how little he has been overstimulated after say, 5pm. He continues to be a sensitive, high need baby in some ways. Sleep is definitely one of them. So we will just continue to decline invitations to our friends' get togethers that don't start until 7pm. (Seriously, have these people not seen Weekend Plans? Do they not need sleep? We're all thirties and up here! Am I just old before my time?) Due to increasing peer pressure, the need to see people we love, and maybe a little name calling, we had started to venture out more often. It's not worth it folks. The past 2 weeks have taught us that. Sorry! We love ya but we love sleep and a happy baby more!
*Thanks to Heather for introducing me to weekend plans. It continues to make me giggle on a regular basis. Oh I'm so those people.

Oh I hear you! The last 3 weeks, we've had dinner early and start bedtime ritual at 6pm- no later than 6:30pm! They monkeys are done and asleep between 7-7:30. It's ticked some folks, but we've just been honest. They come first. And we need sleep. So, we can do a late lunch or an early dinner, or we can pass. Sometimes, it's a pass... Other times we have a great earlier time. It'll get easier as they age and this time is so short in the grand scheme of things... :)
HAHA I need to watch that video again!
Same here. If Skeeter is super wound up before bedtime, I can GUARANTEE he'll wake up crying at midnight. I'll never understand how being overtired doesn't translate into sleeping harder.
(OMG - that video is hysterical!!)
