The Eyes Have It

Farah at Fertilized did this a long time ago, and I thought it was fun. It's just taken me an age to get my photos uploaded to the dang computer.

Shuttle Launch Videos

In the first video, it's just the beginning of lift-off across the Indian River. Please note that there are many voices in the background - only 2 of them Hub's and mine. So if it's dorky, assume we didn't say it. K? Thanks. :)


Note in this second video that you can hear the crackle of the shuttle. In this particular spot, you don't hear the sound as well as you do in others out there, but the crackle is audible. It's similar in my mind to the crackly whistle of a propane torch. Also note that there is a renewed cheer at an odd time. Apparently that's because tradition dictates that it's polite to cheer after waiting 45 seconds, as the crew is most likely in the clear after that time. We could even see the booster separation very clearly! The sun glinted off them just the right way so that we could track their entire progress as they fell. I've heard that you could even see them in central Florida about an hour away.

Long Promised Photos

Hub was holding out on me and had another way to get the photos to the computer. Grrr. I guess I'll let him live.

Jim Lovell's hands were really small!! (I'm a small person)


Spaceview Park was PACKED. This is how it looked about an hour and a half before the launch. We camped out about 4 and a half or 5 hours before the launch and got a really good site with a little blanket and picnic fun. The people next to us were really fun and chatty, and I worked on my homework.

Ups and Downs

Wow. My hormones have me on the SheiKra* here. It seems somewhat food related, but I'm sure my lovely cycles have something to do with it as well. I'm also having trouble focusing, and this is bad news for my finals projects.

This is why I live in Florida people. I went outside to get the mail and the warmth, singing birds and bright sunshine were an instant balm. Another thing that helps? A small piece of dark chocolate eaten between two Kashi original seven grain crackers. It's surprisingly delicious and definitely mood enhancing.

*I have not yet ridden this coaster. While I love coasters, I don't know if my tummy could handle this one.

Cuteness Overload

Apparently I can't get enough cuteness this weekend. I'm a nut! Funny enough, I stumbled upon this site while searching for photos/information for my final presentation at school. See, the world conspires against my attempts at productivity!

Juvenile Infatuation

Hub and I attended a comic convention today. I perused the toys while Hub perused the art, and I had a fantastic find! I've been wanting some little toys called "Peek a Poohs" forever, but they're hard to find and usually only in vending machines. People online charge an arm and a leg for them. Grrr. But at this lovely con, we found a machine!! Not only that, but the wonderful clerk was willing to OPEN THE MACHINE TO GET US WHAT WE WANTED. How awesome is that? And no, I didn't bug him, he actually OFFERED.

I desperately want the Pooh in the Eeyore costume, as Eeyore is my favorite, and I think it's adorable. But he didn't have that one, and this set is one of those that people charge a ton for. sigh. Actually, both sets are "coveted" sets, so I'm glad we got them.

I did purchase some for gifts as well. I know some people who will just adore them.

On top of that, I found the artist with whom we'd like to partially decorate our child's nursery (when we have one).

Then we had really yummy food at a really humble down-home place with some really good friends. All in all, quite a good day. Now I probably should really buckle down on the schoolwork eh?

Is anyone else absolutely RAVENOUS during their luteal phase? Or am I just a freak? And by "freak," I mean that I would eat greasy fries with dirt covered fingers and lick 'em clean if caught without food during this time.* I actually get shaky, desperate and eventually faint. Maybe I'm just a fancy woman who gets the vapors?





*Not that I've ever actually DONE this of course... at least not in that exact way.
**I contemplated making a label for this one that read FOOOOOOOOOOD, instead of just food. I resisted.
